Overview
I recently run into an issue with Published Apps on Azure Virtual Desktop, when used with Windows App for Web (HTML5). For a better understanding, here’s a short video:
Solution
The customers environment is using OneDrive as published App, too. For that getting to work, the enhanced shell experience is configured via GPO. When enabled, OneDrive launches as a companion to the RemoteApp and integrates into the taskbar.
As soon as I’m disabling that GPO, the issue is gone – but OneDrive isn’t working as pubApp 🙂 In the mentioned MS-article, the following prerequisites are listed:
The last one is exactly the “issue”, HTML5 isn’t supported at the moment, Microsoft has already confirmed that.
Summary
If you stumble across that issue, first ask the customer if OneDrive is in use as published App and check the enhanced shell experience setting. At the moment, you have to decide – HTML5 PubApps or OneDrive 🙂
