Who we are
This website, julianjakob.com, is managed by Julian Jakob, an IT aficionado interested in the end-user computing (EUC) part of the IT industry. The purpose of this website/blog is to share information related to EUC topics, with a large focus on Citrix™ and Microsoft™ product suite.
The content on this website is for free. There is no need for users to register themselves before being allowed to download content. In no other way, for example by sharing personal data to third-parties, is this website monetized.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Data is collected on this website in the following ways.
Content (within a blog post)
When you, the visitor, send me remarks or suggestions to add to one of the articles on my website, your name as well as a link to your Twitter™ account may be added. Before I do this, I always ask you for your explicit approval via e-mail. In case you do not want your name and Twitter handle displayed, the suggested content will be added without referring from whom it originated.
A cookie is a small piece of text sent to your browser by a website that you visit. It helps the website to remember information about your visit, like your preferred language and other settings. That can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you. Cookies play an important role. Without them, using the web would be a much more frustrating experience.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.
When you leave a comment and you voluntarily choose to enter your name, e-mail address or website (or all three) at the end of a blog post, this information is collected.
Please let me remind you that entering your name, e-mail address or website when posting a comment is NOT required for you to be able to post a comment!
When visitors leave comments on this website also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string are collected to help spam detection, independent whether you choose to enter your e-mail address or not.
This website uses Google Analytics™ to track the usage of this website. This information is used in a purely informative way so I, Julian Jakob, can monitor the growth of my website, so I can see which posts/articles visitors find most interesting and how long visitors stay on one particular page.
How long we retain your data
Contents (within a blog post)
Additional content you offer for any of the articles on this website will be retained indefinitely, unless the article in question is deleted or its contents is updated. Content provided by you, the visitor, may be removed due to new technological features making the current content obsolete.
The retention time of the cookies used on this website is as follows:
Google Analytics: indefinitely.
Comments: one year.
When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This makes it easier do deal with any follow-up comments, but more importantly, your comments offer interesting thoughts to the article in question and other visitors should be allowed to read these thoughts and perhaps be inspired to add their own comments.
Google Analytics data is retained indefinitely. This allows me, Julian Jakob, an historical overview of how this website grows over time.
What rights you have over your data

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
